Theory Workshops

Children and youth enjoy learning so much more when content is taught through hands-on activities and games rather than with paper and pencils.  Music theory can include anything and everything about note reading and writing music, music notation, rhythms, ear training, history, and more...  While music theory is absolutely taught and incorporated in every private lesson, there is plenty to learn and a small group setting works really well for this.  Regardless of the instrument you play, all musicians will benefit from these workshops.

Theory Workshops (simply referred to as "Workshop") will be held once a week in addition to your private lesson.  It will be a 45-minute class with 4-8 students of similar ages/music level.  The pace goes with the students and will build upon previous classes.

Very young students who are doing Buddy Lessons will have a mini workshop incorporated into their lesson time rather than having a separate 45-minute class.

Performance Workshops

The "Performance Workshop" gives students an opportunity to "practice" performing.  Not meant to be as formal as a recital, this workshop is held once a month in a semi-formal setting.   Family and friends are encouraged to come and be the audience.  Parents will sign up ahead of time to bring refreshments.

Students will have the opportunity to:

Cost for Workshops

Within a tuition cycle there will be three (45-minute) theory workshops and one performance workshop so that each week your student will attend their private lesson and a workshop.  If you have signed up for piano lessons here, then your workshops are already built into tuitionNO extra payment needed.

If you are taking private lessons for any instrument with another teacher, outside of our studio, you are welcome to purchase a semester of workshops to supplement your music theory education and get regular performing opportunities.

2024-2025 Tuition for just the Workshops will be:
