Piano Lessons
Hi, I'm Sarah Hancock and I am excited to teach you how to play the piano. I've been playing since I was 5-years-old! Read my bio in the "Meet the Teachers" section of this website.
So you want to take piano lessons:
Think about the “why” in your decision to give your child piano lessons. If your child is a little bit older, find out what their hopes are too. It’s good to know what your goals are.
Consider your budget, time, and distance. How much of these resources are you willing to spend to advance your goals?
Are you, the parent, wanting to be super-involved? more "hands off"? or somewhere in between?
Do you already have a piano? If so, has it been tuned lately?
Finding a Teacher:
Now that you know what your goals are, sharing them with your potential teacher will be a good step in finding the right match for your needs.
Observing other students' lessons gives you a chance to see the teacher in action and to get a feel for their style.
Ask the teacher if they have a studio policy. If so, read it and ask for clarification on anything you don't understand. If they don't have a written policy, you're probably going to want to ask about things like late payments, missed lessons, extra material costs, time commitments, etc.
Finally, make sure you find out the teacher's available times to see if there is a lesson time that works for you.
